A Guide to Liverpool

Liverpool became a city in 1880, and it was in the 19th century that Liverpool became a major port city, with much of the world's trade passing through its docks. These docks, most notably Albert Dock, are also home to the largest collection of Grade I buildings in Britain, and has been labelled a World Heritage Site. Liverpool is also known for its diverse culture, and more specifically its music, from which the Beatles were formed.

The city has many hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions. Some of these include:

Liverpool's Waterfront

  • Granted World Heritage Site status, the waterfront is full of both history and attractions such as Tate Liverpool and the Merseyside Maritime Museum

The Beatles Story

  • A museum situated on Albert Dock, which promises to share The Beatles story from start to finish.

Liverpool Cathedral

  • Considered by some as one of the great buildings of the world, with panoramic views of the area, a selection of restaurants and shops, Liverpool Cathedral is a worthwhile site to visit.

Tate Liverpool

  • Tate Liverpool can be found on Albert Dock, housed in one of the many Grade I-listed buildings, has many famous art peices on show from some British artists to artists like Picasso.

Free to enter with the exception of some paid-for exhibitions.
